Our mission is to restore economic prosperity and social equity to neighborhoods that have been historically marginalized and economically excluded. We envision vibrant, self-sufficient communities with abundant economic opportunities, where all residents can achieve their full potential.
The Black Wall Street Foundation was established to address the historic injustices faced by Black and underserved communities, such as redlining, divestment, and systemic neglect. Our name pays homage to the original Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a thriving Black community destroyed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Inspired by their resilience and success, we are committed to building modern-day equivalents that offer economic empowerment and social equity.
We focus on key areas to achieve our mission. Community revitalization involves transforming abandoned buildings and vacant lots into community centers, affordable housing, and business hubs. Economic empowerment supports local entrepreneurs and small businesses with grants, low-interest loans, and business development services. Education and workforce development offer programs and vocational training to equip residents with the skills needed for high-demand jobs. Improving access to quality healthcare services through clinics, mobile health units, and partnerships with healthcare providers addresses healthcare needs. Advocacy and policy change involve promoting racial equity and economic justice by collaborating with policymakers and community leaders.
The Black Wall Street Foundation employs a holistic approach to community revitalization, focusing on both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.
